The voice, the personality, even her appearance-I mean c’mon, you can’t tell me that header image isn’t absolutely adorable.

It helps that she’s voiced by an already pro actor (apparently she played the daughter of the dude from Mad Men or something?), but I just kind of dig everything about Jinora. But putting the focus on Tenzin and his little spirit problems anchored the events nicely, and it was good that we finally got to see Tenzin in a more vulnerable, weak position than we’re used to.Īlso nice was the additional focus on Jinora, who is easily my favorite of Tenzin’s children. At its heart this was a bridge episode that was just around to transition Korra from our world into the spirit one, and to reunite her with her former teacher. But it was nice to see him take the focus here, even if it was at a time when the situation was at its most dire for Korra and the world in general. Tenzin is one of my favorite characters on this show, mostly because J.K. Thankfully though, there’s a lot more to appreciate about this week’s episode-namely in the character department.īecause yes, “The Guide” was a Tenzin episode, and a joyous one at that. But if you were expecting a plot heavy action packed installment of the show with “The Guide,” you might be disappointed. That said, it was still a hard week off to go through, and I’m glad the show has once again returned to the airwaves for the final stretch of Season 2. Not only did we get double the Korra that week, but we got double the Korra that pretty much changed everything we had perceived about the show-it was a lot to take in surely, and the week off was actually appreciated. It was refreshing to see the avatar change from a spiritual, non-violent character to a brash, gung-ho personality.Following the pretty plot heavy (and amazingly epic) two parter “Beginnings,” I think it was appropriate for The Legend of Korra to a week off. Different ages, different time periods, different personalities, which in the end means different issues for both of them. Yes she behaves rashly but people forget that she's 17. Personally, I liked Korra as a protagonist. ATLA season 3 would be the best but after that I'd definitely rank LOK season 4 above ATLA season 2. Also I will admit, if I put all 3 ATLA seasons and all 4 LOK season together and had to rank them all, some LOK seasons would be higher than ATLA. I treated Korra more as a spin-off rather than a sequel since I knew it would center on an all new cast with sprinkles of the original ATLA cast, which is what I believe it was to be the original intention for writers. Season 3 and 4 were great but season 2 was meh. I thought season 1 was alright, a little slow but alright since it was world building. People don't like Korra as a protagonist either. As someone who watched it when during its original run, I know some of my friends were expecting to see something along the lines of a direct sequel just without Aang. There are several main comics which take place shortly after ATLA. 9: Credit Artists in The Title & Comments.
